JNVR 2025/13 - Envisioning a right to migrate for climate-induced migrants
Aflevering 3, gepubliceerd op 29-10-2025 geschreven door M. HuClimate change is intensifying the environmental factors that drive migration, disproportionately affecting vulnerable and marginalized communities, primarily in the Global South. Although climate-induced migration is a global issue, these communities face the greatest risks and challenges. Current legal frameworks for protecting mobile people often fall short in addressing the specific needs of climate-induced migrants. This article proposes a new framework to justify a right to migrate for those displaced by climate change. Unlike existing international laws, this framework is grounded in the principles of environmental justice, aiming to offer fair and effective protection for climate migrants.
